Timebanking is a way to exchange skills and resources. It can be thought of as an economy that values each person's time equally. The sharing is coordinated online. When you have a need, such as stacking wood, child care, a ride to work, cooking lessons, you post it to the website where members of the Timebank view your request and respond.

The hours of time spent are credited by you to the person that responded. When you spend an hour helping someone, that person credits you with 1 hour of time. By getting to know and exchange skills with our neighbors, we develop community.

As with any currency, Timebank hours represent an "I owe you" transaction so it is possible to spend hours without having earned them. With Timebank hours, there is no interest fee or inflation, so do not be afraid to spend hours. Your account will show a negative balance representing the amount of time you owe the community.

To join the Timebank, create a new account. You will be requested to enter information about yourself, your skills, your availability.  Consider donating $5 or 1/2 hour to help pay for webhosting fees and for outreach.

If you need assistance, please send a message to the Timebank Coordinator or email info@uppervalleytimebank.org.
